The new Office 2010 has been specifically designed to enhance your productivity with a host of new tools available.
The way we work on documents has changed greatly over the past few years. Originally it was one person, working individually on a simple document at the desk in their office. Today its more common place to work together in teams, with shared access to documents even if team members are working from home.
Here’s a more in depth view of the benefits coming your way in early 2010.
Word 2010 using SharePoint not only improves collaboration between teams of people working together on the same document it also helps you find your way around lengthy documents too! There’s a brand new Navigation Pane and Search Experience to help you easily reorganise your document, using super-fast drag and drop, no more cut and paste, with a special step by step search facility to highlight the area of the document you want to reach – fast!

You can control the collaboration of your documents, ie. who’s editing what and when by linking it with SharePoint. If you haven’t already experienced this software – here’s a brief overview:
SharePoint helps you to find your customers paperwork in a fraction of the time. It works fantastically well when working on Quotes. Eg. Each client has a folder with a subfolder for each quote with room for all information relating to that quote, i.e. spreadsheets with costings, emails from suppliers, on line pricing, web pages and PDF’s of specifications – all of this information is held together, securely, indefinitely for those with accessibility.
You can also use SharePoint to hold all your company documents too – Health & Safety Procedures, Maintenance Schedules, Price Lists, Expenses Sheets, Task Lists – you get the picture.
Finally, SharePoint will also keep track of any outstanding orders at the touch of a button and you can even invite your colleagues to secure, on-line discussions saving time and travel.
So back to Word 2010 what else is coming your way next year?
We’ve already explored the collaboration aspects between teams and easier navigation, there’s also better graphics, and a familiar web based format which you can also access from your mobile phone.
On the graphic side, there’s more choice of tools for creating striking picture effects to grab your audience without the need to use another picture editing software. More SmartArt diagrams, customisable templates and new colour schemes with rich graphical and typographic effects for your text.

The web based format gives you access anytime from anywhere. If you’re not on line you can still make changes to your documents along with other colleagues at the same time. The next time you are back on line – Word 2010 will automatically sync the document and show you and your team the changes made.
